2008 FM EXPO

The Greater Phoenix Chapter of IFMA is hosting the 2008 FM Sustainability Expo this fall. This will be our 5th year for this informative event. Dates for the show are Wednesday, November 12th and Thursday, November 13th.

This year’s theme has been modified to focus on sustainability concepts, practices, and resources intended to support Facility Managers. As we have done in the past, our chapter has the responsibility to locate and confirm qualified speakers to serve on a three member panel. The selection committee has determined this year’s panelist must have leadership roles capable of initiating change and authority to support sustainable practices. The theme of panel discussion will be how Facilities organizations can support the goal of participating valley cities. Since this year’s event will be at the dawn of the 2009 USGBC Green Build Conference hosted at the Phoenix Convention Center in the fall of 2009, this will be an opportunity to consider high visibility city representatives, primarily Mayors of valley cities who have introduced sustainability initiatives. Since mayor’s calendars are usually filled six to nine months out, we may not be able to schedule all three. Therefore, let’s be sure to share all candidates in the event we have to modify the desired panel representation. The qualification criteria are as follows:

  • Individual must have broad knowledge in sustainability practices, concepts or benefits.
  • Active in pursuing, managing or influencing sustainability initiatives.
  • Serves in leadership or authoritative role capable of initiating and supporting sustainability initiatives.
  • Incentives local municipalities are considering for FM organization interested in pursuing LEED certifications.
  • Proven advocate for pursuit of sustainable practices.
If you know of a speaker or panelist, please have him / her go to the following website and fill out one of the forms listed: http://arizona.sustainableexpos.com/Seminars.aspx .
